Perhentian Island aka Paradise

Long time no see blog! I’ve had some busy weeks here in Kuala Lumpur working and having family visits. But in the weekend there’s always time to travel. In the beginning of April my parents, my girlfriend and my sister arrived to spend 2 weeks in beautiful Malaysia. The perfect opportunity to travel to one of the most beautiful Malaysian islands called Perhentian.

Perhentian is a small island in the North-East of Malaysia. On April 6th we flew out to Kota Bahru to catch a ferry that would bring us to the island. After 45 minutes of bumping up and down on a small speedboat over the waves we arrived in paradise. Perhentian is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ver been. The island has no roads or vehicles whatsoever. The boat dropped us of at our resort called ‘The Barat Perhentian’, a small but awesome resort on the beach.

On the island we spent our first day relaxing on the beach and snorkeling. The second day, on my birthday, we booked a full day snorkeling trip by private boat which took us to 4 stops and we saw some of the most beautiful fishes swimming through the most colorful reefs. On the third day we went on a diving trip, what an awesome experience. That was definitely not the last time that I’m going to dive. We saw some of the coolest and biggest fishes 12 metres below sea level. And then on Sunday morning we unfortunately had to leave for KL again… Back to normal life.

On friday it was my 21st birthday and what a place that was to celebrate it! If ever I have the time I will definitely come back to this paradise. The best things about Malaysia and it’s beautiful islands is that they are still undiscovered, which means that there aren’t many tourists. But unfortunately on Sunday we had to leave again, back to work on monday…
